CWA & CTA Combined Senior League Gala – Event Summary

The CWA & CTA Combined Senior League Gala is a premier short course (25m) swimming competition held at Generations School Pool, Somerset West. Governed by Swimming South Africa (SSA) and World Aquatics (WA)rules, this gala attracts top swimmers from the Western Cape and surrounding regions, offering a highly competitive environment for senior league athletes.

Key Event Details & Rules:

The gala will be swum under official SSA & World Aquatics regulations with starting blocks and backstroke wedges.
Swimmers must be SSA-registered at Level 2 or higher.
Age groups are determined on the day of the gala, with swimmers competing only in their age group.
Swimmers may enter a maximum of 6 individual events.
Heats will be seeded slowest to fastest, mixed gender.
Withdrawals must be made at least 30 minutes prior to session start; late no-shows incur a R150 fine.
Only qualified, registered officials dressed in white shirts and navy trousers/skirts are permitted; clubs must provide replacements if officials are absent.
Clubs must submit entries, including zip files, fee reports, and officials list, by 12 August 2025.
Late entries between 13–18 August incur triple fees.

Competition Format:

Age groups: 11 & under (50m, 100m, 200m except 200 fly), 12-13, 14-15, 16 & over (50m, 100m, 200m events plus 800m & 1500m freestyle).
Heats and events may be combined based on entries.
Medals awarded per age group and event.
Multi-disability swimmers compete alongside able-bodied swimmers.

Gates open at 07:30; limited spectator seating; designated parking for spectators.
Medical officer available throughout the event.
Vendors on-site selling refreshments and swimming essentials.
Two printed programs per club will be provided on event day.
Results will be live on Meet Mobile and emailed post-event.
